depends on which muscle you're talking about. Eccentric for the quadriceps group, concentric for the hamstring group. Concentric is shortening of the muscle, eccentric is lengthening. So if the Quads are knee extensors, and the hammys are knee flexors...figure it out from there.

More Problems for Zimmer Regarding the NexGen CR-Flex
Zimmer began marketing the NexGen CR-Flex knee replacement system in 2003, making the assertion that patients who undergo knee replacement surgery using the device can regain much of the active lifestyle they had before the effects of osteoarthritis set in. The cementless version of the CR-Flex is designed to attach to the bone through natural in growth rather than by a synthetic epoxy, resulting in a greater range of motion in the joint than other such devices. While the development of the NexGen CR-Flex system seemed excellent in theory, there have been some apparent flaws with its implementation.
Patients have most commonly complained about the NexGen CR-Flex's tendency to loosen prematurely. Loosening in a knee implant causes the patient serious pain in completing every day tasks or simply walking across the room. In some cases, a patient who has had her knee replacement device loosen has had to return to the operating room for revision surgery. Some studies estimate that such loosening could be a problem in up to 36% of NexGen patients.
Zimmer has dealt with problems with its medical devices in the past. Three years ago, evidence came to light that its Durom Cup hip implant was prematurely failing for the patients in which the device was implanted. Like the NexGen CR-Flex, the Durom Cup was designed to affix itself to the bone without any synthetic bonding material. After acknowledging the high right of failure in the device, Zimmer issued a recall in July of 2008.
Although there has yet to be any indication that a Zimmer knee recall is in the works, if the evidence that the product is failing at higher than acceptable rates continues to build then Zimmer may have no choice. In a successful claim against Zimmer, the company would likely have to pay you compensatory damages, which include all medical bills, lost wages, and any other losses you incurred due to the failure of the device. Additionally, you may be able to seek compensation for the pain and suffering that was caused by the device loosening.
If it has been determined that you have experienced loosening in your Zimmer NexGen CR-Flex or had to go in for revision surgery, you should consider filing a claim against Zimmer. The decision to go after a company that has harmed you is not one that should be taken lightly and you should seek out guidance every step along the way.
