Choosing the Right Set Of Golf Clubs Is Not Easy - Some Tips to Help You
When you are deciding on a set of golf clubs, you can make it as easy or as complicated as
you want. One thing that you can do is to go to and golf shop that does not have a pro, you
can then pick up a set of clubs right off the shelf and then take then to the tee. You can
also go to garage sales and get some clubs. You can ask a pro at one of your local
courses. Any of these methods will work. Are you going to get a set of clubs that you
need with the correct loft, lie, size of grip, correct shafts and all of the other stuff
that is involved with club fitting. I think you can see where I am going with this, you
have just about no chance.
If you are just beginning to play this wonderful game of golf, keep in mind that you may
find out that or discover that this game is not for you. So start out by using some rental
clubs at the local driving range. Most driving ranges have rental clubs that you can use
to hit balls. Then go out and hit some balls with this rental clubs. If you still decide
that you still want to play this game after hitting some balls, then you can buy your own
clubs.
If you are just starting out(and you have hit some balls with rental clubs for a while)
find some cheap clubs to use as an interim set during your adjustment period. You are just
learning the game and what you don't want to do is to go out and make this huge money
purchase when you still are not sure what you really need yet.
Keep yours ears open for people who are selling clubs. You may hear about someone who is
willing to sell their clubs for cheap. Ask them if they know of anyone else that may be
willing to sell some golf clubs cheap. Go around and take a look at some garage sales that
have golf clubs, you can even try the classified ads in the paper. Of course you can check
on the internet. Become your own private investagator and hunt down the best buy you can
find. Buy cheap for now - you will have plenty of time for the big purchase later.
What you really want to do at this time in the experimentation phase is to try a lot of
different clubs. Try all sorts of clubs - ones that have steel shafts and graphite shaft
(which are lighter and are easier to swing), you could try some of the big headed clubs,
investment cast clubs (made by pouring hot metal into a mold). And then there are forged
clubs (made from a single piece of metal), and cavity-backed clubs (ones that are hollowed
out in the back of the iron). You are going to have more choices than you will believe.
But one thing that you must remember: You are in your experimental stage, you don't want to spend big money yet, try the different clubs out.
Don't be afraid to ask your friends if you could try their clubs and see what you think
about them. Try them on the range so you can hit a few balls to really get the feel of
that club. I do this all the time when one of my friends get's a new club, I ask them if I
could hit a few balls. They always sure, no problem. But remember if you don't like the
club, don't tell your friend that the club stinks if you don't like it. That would not be
very good golf etiquette. Just hand over the club and say thanks.
Today club fitting is big business. Amatuers and pro golfers have access to all the same
club fitting technology and information. It is important for all golfers, male and female,
to use the right equipment for their body types and physical conditions. For example,
there are many manufacturers of golf clubs that specialize in creating clubs for women that
have a softer shafts, which are lighter and more flexible.
With all the technology that is available today, buying a set of golf clubs is like buying
a computer. Whatever you buy today, could be outdated in six months from now. So try to
find the best deal that you can. Try to get the best price. When you do find that set you
like, and you are hitting the ball consistently, stick with those clubs. Finding a set of
golf clubs that you can feel good with is really hard to do. Find the ones that work and
stick with them.
